The weather's getting warm and it's the perfect time to paint your deck or improve your landscaping. If only home improvements didn't put such a major dent in your wallet, right?
A little cash back to offset the cost is always nice. From now until the end of June, these credit cards want to help you create a more comfy place to live. Keep in mind that these cards have rotating categories and you have to sign up online to qualify for the cash back each quarter.
Chase Freedom Visa - $100 Bonus Cash Back
You get 5 percent cash back on up to $1,500 spent on home improvement, home furnishings, and lawn and garden purchases through June. That's up to $75 cash back. After you earn $75, you still get 1 percent cash back on your home improvement purchases.
The bonus: Spend $500 in the first three months of opening your account and get $150 cash back. If you're doing some major improvements around the house, this card can save you a bundle.
The variable APR starts as low as 11.99 percent and there's no annual fee.
At publishing time, the Chase Freedom Visa - $100 Bonus Cash Back is offered on Credit.com product pages and Credit.com is compensated if our users apply for and ultimately sign up for the card. However, this relationship does not result in ANY preferential editorial treatment.
Citi Dividend Platinum Select Card
With this card, you get 5 percent cash back on home improvement, home furnishings and home and garden stores through June 30, 2011. You can earn a maximum of $300 in a calendar year. So you could spend $6,000 on home improvement and earn $300 cash back. If you don't need to spend that much on home improvement, note that you get 2 percent cash back for the first six months on everything else.
The variable APR starts as low as 12.99 percent and there's no annual fee.
Discover More Card
You get 5 percent cash back on up to $400 in purchases at home improvement, clothing and department stores through June. You get $20 cash back, which isn't nearly as good as the cash back rewards from the Chase Freedom Visa or the Citi Dividend Platinum Select Card. But if you already have this card in your wallet, don't forget to take advantage of this cash back opportunity.
One good thing to note about this card is the zero percent intro APR for 15 months. So if your circumstances dictate that you need to revolve a balance, this is a decent option.
The regular variable APR starts as low as 11.99 percent and there's no annual fee.
