Trying to pick the right credit card can be overwhelming. There are just so many choices out there and your favorite Halloween characters have the same problem that you do.

So I'm giving them a hand (not literally). Here are my credit card picks for some of your favorite Halloween characters.

Vampire

Vampires love the night life and are often spotted at posh dining establishments. They love to go out, um, drinking all night. Problem is, all this partying often drains the life right out of their dates.

With the Citi Forward® Card, vampires get five ThankYou points for every $1 spent on restaurants and entertainment. Just what a vampire needs before turning into a bat and flying home before dawn.

Vampires who spend $650 and sign up for paperless statements within three months of opening an account earn 10,000 bonus points. (This works out well for vampires since coffins don't have the space to store statements.)

Here's what I really like about this card: Vampires who pay their bills on time and stay under their credit limit can lower their purchase APR by up to 2 percent.

Credit needed: Good-to-Excellent

Variable APR: 0% intro APR on purchases for seven months; then you get a 13.99 percent, 21.99 percent or 22.99 percent.

Annual fee: None

At publishing time, the Citi Forward® Card is offered on Credit.com product pages and Credit.com is compensated if our users apply for and ultimately sign up for these cards. However, this relationship does not result in any preferential editorial treatment.

Captain Jack Sparrow

I've never personally met a pirate, but according to Disney movies, they simply can't resist gold. I guess having a nest egg lets them do all kinds of fun, pirate-related things.

With the rewards that come with the American Express Gold Card, Jack Sparrow is all set for a day of swashbuckling and raiding seaside towns.

This is a charge card, which means full payment is due at the end of the month. But this doesn't worry Jack Sparrow because he has no intention of paying the bill anyway.

He just intends to enjoy the fabulous rewards, which includes no pre-set spending limit and access to Gold Card events, such as concerts and major sporting events.

If he spends $1,000 within the first three months, he'll get 10,000 Membership Rewards points, which is redeemable for a $100 gift card.

Credit needed: Excellent

Variable APR: None; this is a charge card so you can't carry a balance

Annual fee: $125

At publishing time, the American Express Gold Card is offered on Credit.com product pages and Credit.com is compensated if our users apply for and ultimately sign up for these cards. However, this relationship does not result in any preferential editorial treatment.

Zombie

When the survivors on The Walking Dead are resting on a highway, you can bet that a pack of zombies will suddenly show up and scare everyone senseless. Zombies can't help themselves. They just love the open road.

They also love to eat and will devour anything that moves. With the Discover Open Road - $150 Restaurant.com Gift Certificate, a zombie can take a stab at his (or her) insatiable appetite. All a zombie has to do is make a purchase within the first six months of opening the account to earn the $150 Restaurant.com gift certificate.

Zombies get 2 percent CashBack Bonus on the first $250 in combined restaurant and gas purchases each billing cycle. Plus, they get .25 percent on all other purchases; after spending $3,000, they get to enjoy a full 1 percent on everything.

Credit needed: Excellent

Variable APR: 0% intro APR on purchases and balance transfers for 12 months; after that, 11.99-20.99 percent.

Annual fee: None

At publishing time, the Discover Open Road - $150 Restaurant.com Gift Certificate card is offered on Credit.com product pages and Credit.com is compensated if our users apply for and ultimately sign up for these cards. Witch

Flying around on brooms is so 2010. Today's witch wants to fly inside the plane. The witch frequent flyer doesn't want anything fancy, but she does want a card that offers some freebies. Since the Great Recession, putting hexes on people hasn't been as profitable as it used to be.

Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards® Plus Credit Card - 2 FREE FLIGHTS Limited Time Offer is a great match for a witch on a budget. After her first purchase (an eye of newt will do), she gets 50,000 Bonus Points, which is worth 2 free round-trip flights.

She'll never make it through security with her broom (potential weapon), not to mention her bag of potions (contains bottles with more than 3 ounces of fluid). With this card, she can check two bags for free.

Plus, the price-conscious witch earns two points per $1 spent on Southwest Airlines and hotel and car rental partner purchases. She gets one point per $1 on every thing else.

Credit needed: Excellent

Variable APR: 14.24 percent

Annual fee: $69

At publishing time, the Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards® Plus Credit Card - 2 FREE FLIGHTS Limited Time Offer is offered on Credit.com product pages and Credit.com is compensated if our users apply for and ultimately sign up for these cards. President Obama

Everyone's concerned about the deficit, but what about the whole national debt? According to the USDebtClock.org, the current national debt is over $14.8 trillion and constantly increasing.

I once followed the national debt on Twitter, but that didn't last long. I had to unfollow it because the status updates were giving me a headache.

Obama can get rid of his own headache by transferring the national debt to the Discover More Card - 18 Month Promotional Balance Transfer. This card offers an amazing zero percent intro APR on balance transfers for 18 months. It also offers up to 5 percent CashBack Bonus on popular rotating categories, like travel, gas, restaurants, and more.

I'm not sure how big a credit limit Obama can get, but he'll probably need to call Discover and negotiate. Here's hoping he has a credit score around 850.

Credit needed: Excellent

Variable APR: 0% intro APR on purchases for six months; after that, between 11.99 percent and 20.99 percent.

Annual fee: None

At publishing time, the Discover More Card - 18 Month Promotional Balance Transfer is offered on Credit.com product pages and Credit.com is compensated if our users apply for and ultimately sign up for these cards. However, this relationship does not result in any preferential editorial treatment.

Frankenstein

One thing you have to admire about Frankenstein is that he's unpretentious. He doesn't dress to impress and he doesn't care about fancy cars. No, he's perfectly content to scare town folk with a casual stroll down Main Street, USA.

Frankenstein needs a card just like himself---no frills. But he also needs a low interest card because he has a hard time getting health insurance with all those mismatched body parts. If he has a medical emergency, such as an arm or an ear falling off, he might need to revolve a balance to pay for his medical expenses.

A good fit for Frankenstein is the IBERIABANK Visa Classic credit card. This is a solid card with an interest rate that starts as low as 7.25 percent. There are no rewards, but it's the perfect card to keep on hand for those unexpected events that make life unpleasant.

Credit needed: Excellent

Variable APR: Ranges from 7.25 percent - 13.25 percent

Annual fee: None

At publishing time, the IBERIABANK Visa Classic card is offered on Credit.com product pages and Credit.com is compensated if our users apply for and ultimately sign up for these cards. However, this relationship does not result in any preferential editorial treatment.

Darth Vader

Running the Evil Empire isn't as easy as it looks. The CitiBusiness World Card can help Darth Vader run his empire more efficiently, which is vital for someone whose To-Do list includes world domination.

He can view quarterly and annual account summaries categorized by employee or type of purchase. Vader also can earn 10,000 bonus ThankYou Points after spending $300 in purchases within the first three months of opening his account. This is enough for a $100 gift card that he can use to spruce up the Death Star.

He earns three ThankYou points for every dollar spent on purchases at certain office supply merchants and on professional services. Plus, one ThankYou point per dollar spent on other purchases. He can also get the ThankYou points from purchases made on employee accounts.

Credit needed: Excellent

Variable APR: Zero percent intro APR for six months; after that, 13.24 percent

Annual fee: None

At publishing time, the CitiBusiness World Card card is offered on Credit.com product pages and Credit.com is compensated if our users apply for and ultimately sign up for these cards. However, this relationship does not result in any preferential editorial treatment.

Ghost

Ghosts enjoy lingering in hotels and making things go bump in the night. And they don't discriminate by socioeconomic status. Whether you're staying at a Fairfield Inn or a luxurious Ritz-Carlton, you're equally likely to be spooked in the dead of night.

Ghosts will love the Marriott Rewards Premier® Credit Card from Chase. Upon approval, a ghost gets to enjoy a free night for haunting. And after the first use, ghosts earn 50,000 bonus points. There are tons of ghost-loving rewards, such as five points for each $1 of net purchases spent at Marriott properties and a free night on the account anniversary.

One of the best things about this card? There are no foreign transaction fees, which offers the free-spirited ghost a chance to haunt hotels overseas without an additional cost.

Credit needed: Excellent

Variable APR: 15.24 percent

Annual fee: First year free; after that, $85.

At publishing time, the Marriott Rewards Premier® Credit Card is offered on Credit.com product pages and Credit.com is compensated if our users apply for and ultimately sign up for these cards. However, this relationship does not result in any preferential editorial treatment.

Harry Potter

Sure, he's a brilliant wizard, but does he know how to track his spending and pay his bills on time? Doubtful, since his parents aren't around. He does have Sirius Black as a father figure, but Sirius doesn't strike me as a financially literate kind of guy.

What Harry needs is the Journey Student Rewards from Capital One. He'll earn 1 percent cash back on all purchases. With this card, Harry can get text and email alerts to help him keep his credit life on track. And when he pays his bill on time, he'll get a 25 percent bonus on the cash he earned that month.

Another great thing about this card is that it doesn't charge foreign transaction fees, which is good news if Harry needs to battle a dark wizard in another country.

Credit needed: Fair

Variable APR: 19.8 percent

Annual fee: None

At publishing time, the Journey Student Rewards card is offered on Credit.com product pages and Credit.com is compensated if our users apply for and ultimately sign up for these cards. However, this relationship does not result in any preferential editorial treatment.

The Devil

Being in charge of eternal damnation is a tough job. After all, Hell doesn't run itself. What the devil needs to fan the flames of success is the Capital One Spark Cash Select for Business.

This card offers excellent management tools, such as a free report at year-end that breaks down expenses by category. This helps the devil keep tabs on the poor souls he's tormenting.

Nothing makes the devil happy (he's a pessimist by nature), but the rewards for this card almost make him crack a smile. He earns 1 percent cash back on every purchase. And on his membership anniversary, he'll earn a bonus that equals 50 percent of the rewards he earned in the prior year.

Credit needed: Excellent

Variable APR: 14.9 percent, 17.9 percent or 19.9 percent

Annual fee: None

At publishing time, the Capital One Spark Cash Select card is offered on Credit.com product pages and Credit.com is compensated if our users apply for and ultimately sign up for these cards. However, this relationship does not result in any preferential editorial treatment.

Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga is rolling in dough, to be sure. But don't underestimate how expensive it is to put together a meat dress, like the one she wore to the 2010 MTV Music Video Awards.

She needs a card that helps her buy wardrobe supplies in bulk at a low cost. The True Earnings Card from Costco and American Express will help her save money at Costco where she'll have a never-ending source of fruits, meats, poultry and seafood, all of which can used for eye-catching ensembles.

She also gets 3 percent on the first $3000 she spends in gas, 2 percent on restaurants and travel, and 1 percent on everything else, including Costco purchases.

Credit needed: Excellent

Variable APR: A zero percent intro APR for six months; after that, 15.24 percent

Annual fee: None with your paid Costco membership.

At publishing time, the True Earnings Card from Costco and American Express is offered on Credit.com product pages and Credit.com is compensated if our users apply for and ultimately sign up for these cards. However, this relationship does not result in any preferential editorial treatment.
